The “Long Arm” of Childhood Circumstances on Later-life Health

Socioeconomic disadvantage, family instability, and abuse are widely studied early-life adversities (ELAs) that co-occur in the lives of many. I have investigated how differential exposure and differential vulnerability to ELAs produce gender and racial inequalities in health over the life course. I have also examined gendered or racial life-course pathways (social, psychological, and behavioral) that link life adversities and health outcomes.
